Is this The End? Are the Horsemen of the Apocalypse upon us? Within days of the start of the Iran War on 28^th February 2026, headlines appeared in newspapers claiming that ‘US troops were told war on Iran was “all part of God’s divine plan”’ and that the Battle of Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ were imminent. Where were these ideas coming from? This blog explores how some Christians interpret contemporary events in the light of prophecy in the Bible and how others claim to have modern-day prophetic revelation. It asks how these things might affect Christian attitudes towards Muslims … and how Muslims may see Christians.

This blog is based on a talk I gave at a chapel service in Oxford on Tuesday 4^th March 2026 reflecting on the outbreak of the Iran-US-Israel war, the Bible and my research into the Christian charismatic-prophetic community views on Islam and the impact of the rise of the far-right and Christian nationalism on Christian-Muslim relations.
